Netherlands, The Hague (Den Haag), Noordeinde. This statue of William I of Orange (1533-1584) stands opposite Noordeinde Palace (left) now used as offices by the present Dutch monarch. William earned the name of William the Silent at the Spanish Court before inspiring eventual Dutch independence from Spain in 1648.
